Suspects in Angono, Rizal shooting face murder raps

The Angono Police is set to file murder charges against the three suspects in the alleged killing of a 20-year-old self-employed man last Feb. 3 in Angono, Rizal.

According to the Angono Police, the male gunman, his 21-year-old live-in partner, and another male companion are set to be charged with murder on either Monday, Feb. 6 or Tuesday, Feb. 7.

A source from the Angono Police told Manila Bulletin that the gunman and the male companion remain at-large except for the 21-year-old live-in partner of the primary suspect who was arrested by the police earlier.

In a series of videos posted on the Facebook page of the Angono Public Information Office (PIO) on Feb. 3, the gunman, who was wearing a white t-shirt, was seen shooting the victim on the head following an apparent confrontation in front of a hospital just across the municipal hall quadrangle.

The CCTV footage also showed another man walking towards the suspect after the latter shot the victim and ran away.

Police said the victim, Kevin Villamayor, 20, a resident of Barangay Poblacion Itaas, Angono, Rizal, died shortly after the incident.

Vice Mayor Gerardo Calderon, during a Facebook live session on Sunday night, said the Feb. 3 shooting incident was only incidental and allayed the fears of residents by saying that the town is peaceful and that several peacekeepers are making the rounds to ensure the safety of the residents.

He said last Friday’s incident was only isolated and that there was no truth to allegations coming from his former political opponents that shooting has become rampant in the Art Capital of the Country.

Earlier, Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon condemned the incident and offered a P10,000 reward to those who could pinpoint the suspect in the Feb. 3 shooting incident.
