An election of national officials, the upholding of the party's support to the Marcos administration, and a whole lot of camaraderie.
This, in a nutshell, took place during the first Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) executive committee (execom) meeting of the year last Thursday, Feb. 3 at the Manila Golf Club.
Leading the attendees were House Speaker and Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez, the party's president; Vice President Sara Duterte, the party's chairperson; and Senior Deputy Speaker and Pampanga 2nd district Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the party's chairperson emeritus.
During the meeting, Misamis Oriental 1st district Rep. Christian Unabia was reelected as Lakas-CMD vice president for Mindanao.
"Rep. Unabia is looking forward to having a fruitful engagement with the party, sharing with them the vision, mission, core values, beliefs, aspirations and advocacies that have been followed and pursued by LAKAS-CMD as one of the biggest political parties in the country," read a post from Unabia's Facebook.
Another Lakas-CMD stalwart who retained his post was Biliran lone district Rep. Gerryboy Espina Jr.
"I am glad to share that during the Lakas-CMD Executive Committee Meeting held at Manila Golf Club, I retained my position as Vice President for the Visayas Regions 6, 7 and 8. My congratulations to House Speaker Martin Romualdez being the party President, and House Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe as Executive Vice President. The Lakas-CMD now holds the majority bloc in the House of Representatives," he wrote in a separate Facebook post.

Meanwhile, former House members Prospero Pichay and Onyx Crisologo also took to social media to share their experience during the high-level meeting.
"In the meeting, resolutions for National Party Officers & National Advisory Council (NAC) were adopted," wrote senior party member Pichay, a former deputy speaker and Surigao del Sur 1st district representative.
Crisologo, on the other hand, bared that "matters pertaining to the party’s support of the legislative agenda of the Marcos administration" were tackled.
“I am grateful for this opportunity to be part of the NAC and be able to help grow the party’s initiatives in serving the Filipino people," the former Quezon City 1st district congressman said in his own post.
