NPA in Mountain Province surrenders


CAMP GERONIMO MONTES, Mountain Province – A New People’s Army (NPA) rebel surrendered to the police and military at the Mountain Province Provincial Police Office here on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Col. Sibly Dawiguey Jr., Mountain Province police chief, said the surrenderer was a member of the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya-Abra-Mountain Province-Ilocos Sur-East Chico Line (KLG-AMPIS-ECL).

“Rene” yielded an M1 Carbine rifle, magazine, and bullets.

Dawiguey said Rene’s surrender was the result of a series of dialogues initiated by the Mountain Province PPO and the Philippine Army.

The rebel returnee is under the custody of the 2nd Mountain Province Provincial Mobile Force Company for debriefing.

If qualified, he will receive financial and livelihood assistance under the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip) to help him reintegrate with the community.
