BACOLOD CITY -- The city government of Sipalay in Negros Occidental, through its Bantay Dagat, released a new batch of sea turtle hatchlings at Poblacion beach on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
The nest of these 45 Olive Ridley sea turtles was sighted around November last year, according to Bantay Dagat coordinator Edsel Toledo.
It usually takes about 60 days for the eggs to hatch, he added.
The nest, where the hatchlings came from, is one of the three nests that are being closely monitored by the Bantay Dagat.
Last month, 82 hatchlings of sea turtles were also released, two months after monitoring their nest at the Local Conservation Area in Barangay 5.
