Included in the project was the widening of the 1.5-kilometer portion of the Guimaras Circumferential Road in the town of San Lorenzo.

From two lanes, it became four lanes that can cater to more vehicles going to and from the villages of Cabano and Igcawayan.

The P72.9-million road widening project also involved provision of drainage canal and slope protection.

“The additional road space now provides a more convenient road access to various tourist attractions such as Reyley Farm, Sunset Valley, Clara Beach Resort, and San Lorenzo Wind Farm,” Bueno said in a statement.

The DPWH Guimaras District Engineering Office also implemented an upgrade to a farm-to-market road (FMR) in Sibunag town.

“The newly-paved road now provides residents, especially farmers and fisherfolk a quicker, safer, and more cost-efficient transport of their products to markets and other establishments,” said  Bueno.

A convergence project with the Department of Agriculture (DA), the P11.9-million project involved concreting of the 575-lineal meter, two-lane FMR with provision of concrete slope protection, metal guard rails, and thermoplastic pavement markings.
