CTG arms cache discovered in Mt. Province


BONTOC, Mt. Province – A joint operation conducted by the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) and the Philippine Army resulted in the discovery of an arms cache of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) here on Monday, Jan. 30.

PROCOR regional director Brig. General Mafelino Bazar said the police operatives of Mt. Province Police Provincial Office and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15), together with the Army troops discovered the arms cache hidden in the mountainous area of Barangay Mainit in Bontoc, Mt. Province.

The operatives seized one piece of improvised explosive device; one piece of upper M16 receiver (barrel); two maps; fifty-one pieces of cartridge (5.56 ball); one M16 selector; one M16 bolt; one M16 forward assist; two pieces of bolt cam pin; one M16 plastic short magazine; and one M16 handguard.

Bazar said the operatives also found assorted clothes, medical supplies, and personal belongings believed to be owned by members of the CTGs.

The recovered items were brought to the custody of the 1502nd Maneuver Company of RMFB15 in Tadian, Mt. Province for documentation and proper disposition.

The operating troops continue to search adjacent areas of the arms cache for the possible recovery of other explosive devices.
