Davao-Manila flight delayed for 3 hours over bomb joke; passenger arrested

A flight from Davao City to Manila was delayed for almost three hours on Sunday, Jan. 29, over a bomb joke made by one of the passengers.

The passenger, identified as 59-year old Annabelle C. Macose, was escorted out of the Cebu Pacific Flight 5J97 and was later arrested by operatives of the police's Aviation Security Group.

She was later investigated and turned over to the local police station.

The flight, carrying 221 passengers, was scheduled to leave the Davao City airport to Manila at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday.

The incident resulted in the delay in the flight as all passengers were asked to leave the plane for the safety protocol.

The plane was moved to an isolation area where all checked-in baggage and hand carried items were re-screened as part of security protocol.

The plane was allowed to leave Davao City airport at 9:11 p.m.
