Terrafirma a good team insists Juami Tiongson

Juami Tiongson didn’t have the hard time deciding to re-sign with Terrafirma as he simply believes that the Dyip are a good team – something which manifested in their upset win over Meralco on Saturday, Jan. 28.

Juami Tiongson drops 30 points to lead Terrafirma to its breakthrough win in the Governors' Cup

The Dyip may have had a tumultuous first two conferences this season but Tiongson said the team has enough chemistry and brotherhood to overcome the struggles and hopefully turn things around in the season-ending conference.

“We have a good team ‘yung chemistry namin is there, ‘yung brotherhood on the court and off the court. I said in one of the interviews ‘yung team nga namin walang factions,” said Tiongson.

“Everyone gets along, everyone hangs out with each other in practice, walang grupo grupo so it's fun to play with Terrafirma that's why I re-signed with them,” he added.

Terrafirma made its first step in its bid for redemption when it pulled off a 96-88 victory with Tiongson leading the charge with 30 points built on six triples.

Import Jordan Williams also continued to turn heads with his own 19 points and eight rebounds while Eric Camson and veteran Alex Cabagnot all made solid contributions in the victory that ended a seven-game losing matchup with Meralco.

“I don't take any credit for myself because it's always about the team. I think the team really looked for me especially when I'm making my shots early, sila kuya Alex, Jordan, Eric, ;hahanapin ka namin’ so we wouldn't have done it without everyone. It was a total team effort,” added the Dyip main man.

Terrafirma actually made a good account of itself in its first game against Converge but went on to collapse in the end game – something Tiongson took the blame for and made sure to bounce back from in their second game.

“I have to take the blame kasi in the second half, nawala focus ko. I focused on the referees instead of the game. Nawala rin ‘yung aggressiveness ko. Puro ako reklamo. I learned from that in today’s game. I guessed it showed. Ni-lessen ko ‘yung antics and ‘yung mga unnecessary,” he added.
