Parañaque Mayor Olivarez, DSWD-NCR sign MOA for prepositioning of relief goods


The Parañaque city government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development–National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) signed on Friday, Jan. 27, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the prepositioning of relief good in times of calamities and emergencies.

Mayor Eric Olivarez represented the city government in signing the MOA with DSWD-NCR Director Monina Josefina Romualdez.

Olivarez said under the agreement, about 1,000 boxes of relief goods will be given to the city government in times of calamities such as typhoon, fire, and others.

He said the objective of the agreement is to strengthen the cooperation of the city government and DSWD-NCR in the distribution of food and other assistance to residents affected by disasters.

The mayor said aside from the distribution of relief goods, DSWD also conducts other programs in the city like the Assistance to Individuals/Families in Crisis Situations (AICS) program that provides financial, medical and other assistance to those in need.

“Nagpapasalamat po tayo sa ating mga kaibigan sa DSWD-NCR sa kanilang patuloy na pagsuporta sa lungsod, at itong prepositioning ng mga relief goods ay makakatulong sa agarang pagtugon natin sa mga nangangailan sa panahon ng sakuna (We are grateful to our friends in DSWD-NCR for their continued support to the city, and this prepositioning of relief goods will help us in giving immediate help to those in need during disaster),” according to Olivarez. The mayor said DSWD-NCR personnel helped him a lot when he was still serving as congressman of the city, adding they were his partner in distributing relief goods and financial assistance to victims of calamities.
