Taguig mayor joins signing of order on creation of public open spaces 


Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano joined the ceremonial signing of a joint administrative order on the creation and use of parks and public open spaces to promote physical and mental health during and after the pandemic.

The signing ceremony was held at Mercado Del Lago in Taguig. The joint administrative order was signed by representatives from the Department of Health, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), and National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

The joint policy on healthy open spaces aims to give people enough open spaces where they can play, exercise and have an area where they can spend time with the families and friends.

Health public open spaces will be open, accessible, friendly for children, elderly and persons with disabilities, smoke-free, vape-free, drug-free, alcohol-free and safe.

Besides Cayetano, the attendees at the signing ceremony were DENR Assistant Secretary Marcial Amaro Jr., DILG Assistant Secretary Rolando Puno, DOH Assistant Secretary Beverly Lloraine Cho, DOH Assistant Secretary Gloria Balboa, PCW lawyer Christine Rosary Yuzon-Chaves, Office of Sen. Pia Cayetano representative Atty. Maria Naval, NCCA’s Victorino Manalo, DPWH-National Capital Region Director Loreta Malaluan and DOH Health Promotion Bureau Officer in Charge Rodley Caraza.

Cayetano said it was important that besides the national agencies, the local government was included in the implementation of intersectoral initiatives.
