SIM registration hits 26M


SIM Registration has been completed for 24,922,249 SIMs as of Tuesday, January 24, 2023, 11:59 PM, the Department of Information and Technology (DICT) today announced.

Based on records provided by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the total number is 14.75 percent of the 168,977,773 million subscribers nationwide.

Smart Communications Inc. reported a total of 12,608,641 SIMs registered, which is 18.54 percent of Smart’s 67,995,734 subscribers.

Globe Telecom Inc. recorded 10,292,954 registered — 11.71 percent of its 87,873,936 subscribers.

DITO Telecommunity Corp. reported a total of 2,020,654 SIMs registered or 15.42 percent of its 13,108,103 subscribers.

SIM Registration has also started its rollout in remote areas in the Philippines today, January 25, 2023.

The 15 identified locations in different provinces are set to be the pilot areas for assisted registration: Ilocos Norte, Cebu, Leyte, Bukidnon, Davao del Sur, Benguet, Cagayan, Bulacan, Batangas, Zamboanga del Sur, Oriental Mindoro, Albay, Iloilo, Cotabato, and Surigao del Sur.

“The DICT’s Free Wi-Fi sites will serve as the hubs for SIM registration," according to DICT Undersecretary Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo.

The DILG is providing the necessary support through the LGUs that have been tasked to disseminate information about the undertaking.

The DOJ’s booths for NBI clearance will also help registrants who do not have valid government-issued IDs.
