2 barangay councilors, pal fall in Manila drug sting


Three men, including two barangay councilors, were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Manila Police District (MPD) in Sampaloc, Manila on Monday, Jan. 23.

Sampaloc Police Station (PS4) identified the suspects as Virgilio Mañebo Diasanta Jr., 41, and Allan Magallanes Salumbre, 37, both residents and councilors of Brgy. 537, Sampaloc; and Albert Magallanes Salumbre, 37, of Brgy. 554, Sampaloc.

According to the police report, PS4 operatives conducted a buy-bust against the three suspects at Sta. Cruz, Brgy. 537, Sampaloc around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

Recovered from the suspects were four heat-sealed transparent sachets containing eight grams of “shabu” worth P54,000 and a P500 bill used as buy-bust money.

Police said the recovered items were turned over to MPD Forensic Unit (MPDFU) for laboratory examination and custody.

All suspects are now detained in PS 4 and will face charges for violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022.

An additional charge for violation of Section 5 of the law will be filed against Diasanta for selling illegal drugs.
