NPA platoon leader surrenders in Quezon


CANDELARIA, Quezon – A platoon leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) Apolonio Mendoza Command, Sub-Regional Military Area 4-A, of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee voluntarily surrendered to the police here on Sunday, Jan. 22, after his organization denied his plea for assistance.

Police said alias “Rodney” surrendered to Major Joseph Carlit, commander of the 1st Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Capt. Benito Nevera, chief of police of the Burdeos police station, at the 1st QPMFC headquarters in Camp Soledad Dolor, Barangay Bukal.

The surrenderer was accompanied by Burdeos Vice Mayor Gina Gonzalez. He yielded a carbine with bullets, a caliber .357 revolver with ammunition, and subversive documents.

Rodney said he decided to surrender after the Apolonio Mendoza Command rejected his request for financial aid for his medical operation.
