Fire hits storage facility in Muntinlupa; P20-M property burned 


A fire hit a storage facility in Muntinlupa on Jan. 22, damaging P20 million worth of properties.

According to the Muntinlupa City Fire Station, the industrial fire happened at the storage facility along Maligaya Street, Tepaurel Compound in Barangay Putatan at about 3:21 p.m.

Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the facility was owned by the non-government organization that is a partner of the Muntinlupa City government in converting plastic residual wastes to sustainable construction materials.

Firefighters raised the first alarm at 3:25 p.m before it was put under control at 4:06 p.m. The fire was put out at 4:36 p.m.

The fire station estimated the damage to the storage facility, owned by Francois Lesage, at P20 million.

No one was injured in the fire. A total of 26 fire trucks and two ambulances responded to the incident.

The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
