Motorcycle-riding man dies in QC shootout


An unidentified motorcycle-riding man died in a shoot-out with operatives from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) early morning on Sunday, Jan. 22.

The QCPD said that the armed encounter happened at around 12:55 a.m. on Sunday when members of the Galas Station (PS 11) who were conducting anti-criminality operation saw the man kickstarting his motorcyle on Kapiligan Street in Barangay Dona Imelda, in the city.

They approached him after they noticed that a gun was tucked in his waist.

QCPD said the man suddenly pulled out the gun and fired towards the cops. A brief shootout ensued resulting in his death.

Police recovered a Honda RS motorcycle and a pistol with an unkown caliber.

It said that the man was clad in black t-shirt, black shorts, a bull cap, and black slippers.

The incident is still under investigation, police said.
