"Through your city's foremost cultural and religious celebration, it is my hope that you will sustain the progressive gains of your locality, reaffirm your identity, strengthen your resolve, and work towards growth for your community," Marcos added.

The President also called on Ilonggos to let the gathering rekindle their commitment to work hard and contribute to nation building. He told them to "always say grace for the blessing brought about by Holy Child Jesus-Señor Santo Niño" in everything that they do.

"May the divine providence bless our country and its people as well as keep us away from all the ills and perils that keep us divided. With the Almighty's guidance, we will have the strength to overcome all difficulties and move forward," Marcos further said.

The chief executive also vowed to the Ilonggos that his administration is "committed to bring forth a better, safer, and more peaceful life for all Filipinos."

Dinagyang commemorates the Infant Jesus' feast. During the festival, locals dress up in bright costumes. It has three main competition events namely Tribe Competition, Kasadyahan Cultural Dance Competition, and Miss Dinagyang contest.
