DPWH completes new multi-purpose building in Bataan Freeport Area

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a new three-storey multi-purpose building (MPB) at the Freeport Area of Bataan(FAB) in Mariveles town.

In a statement, DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino said the structure implemented by the Bataan Second District Engineering Office (DEO) now serves as an added venue for conducting various activities inside the economic zone.

With a total floor area of 1,962 square meters, Tolentino said the new MPB is large enough to be used in the delivery of government services that will benefit the employees and guests of various freeport zone locators or business enterprises.

As of November 2022, the FAB, formerly known as the Bataan Export Processing Zone, has 93 operational enterprises in different industries with 37,261 workers employed.

The DPWH had previously undertaken other projects in the FAB ranging from the upgrading of existing facilities to building new structures such as access roads and a community learning center. (Chito A. Chavez)
