112 police officers complete internal security training in Apayao


LUNA, Apayao -- A total of 112 police officers of the Police Regional Office Cordillera have completed their 480 hours of training for the Basic Internal Security Operation Course (BISOC).

The completion of their basic training was formally acknowledged during a ceremony held at Camp Gov. Elias K Bulut, Sr. and Training Center in Barangay Sta. Lina, Luna, Apayao on Friday, Jan. 20.

The 112 police officers composed of 99 males and 13 females were divided into two classes – the Philippine National Police BISOC Class 53-2022 and 54-2022 ‘PINAGSAY.’

The police officers underwent rigid training for three months.

Some of these trainees indeed excelled in their academic performances.

Patrolman Geneva Simon was easily the best as she got 88.81%, followed by Pat. Sante Baguilet with 87.42% rating, while Pat. Joemar Liegen finished third with an 87.12% rating. The three are from Class 53-2022.

For the Class 54-2022, the academic awardees were: 1st – Pat. Israel Dickson Desay (90.59%); 2nd – Pat. Rea Mae Obina (90.24%) and 3rd – Pat. Gladys Kay Opena (89.96%).

Regional director Brig. General Mafelino Bazar congratulated all the BISOC graduates and encouraged them to further enhance their skills as they undergo more training that will help them develop themselves and their chosen careers.

“This is the end of your BISOC training, and at the same time, the beginning of a more challenging role as a public servant,” said BGen. Bazar during the graduation rites.

“When you applied for the PNP, you decided to serve and protect the people; God has given you the opportunity to fulfill your goals; thus, this is the right time for you to perform your sworn duties and responsibilities efficiently and effectively,” said Bazar in his message to the graduates.

Also present during the program were Apayao Gov. Elias C. Bulut, Jr.; Col. Leon Talleo, Chief of the Regional Special Training Unit - Cordillera; Lt. Col. Ferdinand Oydoc, Officer-in-charge of the Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division; Col. Freddie Lazona, chief of the Regional Logistics and Research Development Division and Col. Jefferson Carriaga, provincial director of Apayao PPO.

BISOC is a specialized training course mandatory for all policemen assigned to maneuver companies.

It is a foundation course, an enhanced version of the 45-day Special Counter-Insurgency Operations Unit Training (SCOUT), which aims to upgrade the officers’ counter-insurgency skills.
