Despite being touted as a light-hearted and feel-good narrative series, the new NET25 sitcom actually boasts of a formidable ensemble comprised of award-winners.
Leading the list is versatile drama actor Raymond Bagatsing, who bagged the Best Actor award for the historical drama flick Quezon's Game at the 2019 Cinema World Festival Awards.
He was also feted two Gawad Urian Best Actor awards for the movies Milagros (1998) and Serafin Geronimo: Ang Kriminal ng Baryo Concepcion (1999). In 2000, he won two Best Supporting Actor awards (FAMAS, FAP) for Soltera. In 2001, he was awarded Best Actor at the Asian Television Awards in Singapore for his performance in the 'Wedding Ring' episode of the long-running drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya.
For her part, Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash (2010) 4th big placer Devon Seron was the recipient of the ASAP Pop Viewers' Choice Awards under the Pop Tween Popsies category (together with James Reid) in 2011. She was also lauded as "Mahusay na Aktres sa Kanyang Henerasyon" in last year's Gintong Parangal awards last August 2022.
Devon is also one of the first Filipino actresses to star in a Korean movie with not just one but two leading men, namely Jin Ju-hyung and Hyun Woo, in the 2017 flick, You and Me.
Good Will lead star David Chua, formerly an ABS-CBN talent and Star Magic contract star, was hailed Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Saturday Night Chills at the 2013 Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival.
Not to be outdone, Good Will director Ian Loreños snagged the Grand Jury Award under the Best Narrative Feature category for his movie Alagwa, which starred Jericho Rosales. The same movie earned him the Indie Movie Director of the Year and Indie Movie Screenwriter of the Year at the 2013 Star Awards.
Incidentally, Loreños also directed the top-rating and breakthrough Kapuso chinoyserye Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune (2020), where David also portrayed a gay villain.
Based on Ian and David's film chronology, it can be inferred how the two cemented their solid actor/director relationship over the years, perhaps a prime consideration why David personally chose Ian to direct him for his very first starring role for a TV series.
David concurs, "That's true. Because of our past work, we've gotten to a level of affinity where we can read each other's minds, and anticipate what we think should be the right attack for any given scene. That's why it's a no-brainer that I chose him to be at the helm of Good Will."
Despite their respective accolades, Raymond, Devon, Ian and David refuse to rest on their laurels for their very first collaborative project for NET25.
Raymond, known for his razor-like focus and dramatic restraint, confesses, "There's no room for seriousness for this light, feel-good narrative series. I'm working with topnotch comedians here, and believe it or not, I realized I have to step out of my 'serious' approach and literally just be in-the-moment, just to nail the right spontaneity and comic feel that these guys are working at so effortlessly."
Good Will also stars top comedians Smokey Manaloto, Ryan Rems, James Caraan, and Kat Galang, with the special participation of Marina Benipayo.
Produced by ALV Productions, Viktory 8 Media and Dark Carnival Productions, Good Will premieres on NET25 on Jan. 22, 4:00-5:00pm, right before the show Korina Interviews.
