During the recent word conference held in observance of January as the National Bible Month, RCAM-MBA Minister Fr. Rolando Garcia, Jr. cited the need for many Filipinos to realize the importance of getting acquainted with the Word of God and to make Bible-reading a common practice in homes.

“This conference is a wonderful opportunity to widen our appreciation in the observance of the Bible Month to help strengthen and deepen our faith,” Fr. Garcia said over Radio Veritas.

The priest reiterated the call made by Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, in his capacity as president of the Catholic Bible Federation and Pro Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization of the Vatican, for the faithful to value and read the Holy Bible.

“I am encouraging every parish in the country to have Bible programs like Bible sharing or Bible formation for the faithful to be able to establish a personal devotion in reading, reflecting and studying the Word of God,” Fr. Garcia said as he urged the faithful to be active in Biblical Apostolates in their respective parishes.

With the theme: ‘The Word of God is the Way, the Truth, and the Life,’ more than 500 representatives from different parishes from the Ecclesiastical Province of Manila attended the event which was organized by the RCAM - MBA in partnership with the Office for the Promotion of the New Evangelization of the Archdiocese of Manila.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No. 124 in 2017 declaring January as the National Bible Month to highlight the importance of reading the Holy Bible.
