MB Daily News Update: PBBM highlights strengths of PH economy in Davos

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. continued to create waves at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, prompting Philippine business leaders to note that he has been able to showcase the country as a viable investment option in the global market.

The managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) likewise took notice of the Philippines as a “exceptionally well-performing country” amid the economic turbulence being experienced worldwide.

Nobel Laureate and Rappler Chief Executive Officer Maria Ressa was acquitted of four tax charges by the Court of Tax Appeals.

A 7.3-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the waters off Davao Occidental, which was felt in several areas in Mindanao, including Davao de Oro, South Cotabato, and Zamboanga del Sur. There was no tsunami warning issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seizmology (Phivolcs).

Details of these major stories, and that of other reports, are but a click away in the MB Daily News Update this Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 18, 2023.
