No classes in Cainta, Rizal today due to inclement weather

The Cainta municipal government suspended classes in all levels, public and private schools, in the municipality on Monday, Jan. 16.

Mayor Elen Nieto, in an advisory, announced that the effect of the Low Pressure Area (LPA), a shear line, and the northeast monsoon has prompted the local government unit to order the suspension of classes in Cainta, Rizal as early as 5 a.m.

Some streets and local roads in the municipality suffer from flooding during heavy rains.

The LPA, located east of Agusan del Norte, and a shear line, will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Monday over Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, and Calabarzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its weather forecast.

Flooding or landslides may result due to moderate to heavy rains.

At 3 a.m. on Monday, the LPA was estimated to be located at 180 km east of Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) is also affecting the extreme Northern Luzon and will cause cloudy skies with rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao. Moderate to heavy rains may possibly lead to flooding or landslides.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the LPA and localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may possibly result.

Coastal waters will be rough in the seaboards of Northern Luzon; moderate to rough in the rest of Luzon and Visayas; and light to moderate in Mindanao.
