Jonas Gaffud, creative and events director of Miss Universe Philippines, asked pageant fans to move on after Miss Philippines Celeste Cortesi failed to enter the top 16 of the 71st Miss Universe Competition in New Orleans, Louisiana on Jan. 14 (Jan. 15 in Manila).
"Walang essay. Move on lang. Happy life lang. I love you Celeste Cortesi. " Jonas wrote on Facebook.
On Jan. 11, Gaffud said that he was proud of the performance of Celeste at the preliminaries.
“So beautiful. People have their opinion on what she should have done and all during the preliminaries at Miss Universe. I just felt proud to see her on stage. How she moved, the subtle and effortless beauty she possesses. She does not have to act like someone else. She is as authentic as she can be,” wrote Jonas on Instagram.
Voltaire Tayag, Director for Communications of Miss Universe Philippines Organization, encouraged pageant fans to be happy for the success of the top 16 candidates.
"Let us all be happy for the success of the top 16. All the women have worked hard to be in Miss Universe. They are all deserving.
"Of course it hurts but let's keep the true spirit of the pageant alive. Miss Universe has been very kind to us for so many years. Let's be grateful for those years and be optimistic of what's to come," said Tayag.
