Security guard shot dead in Bacolod


BACOLOD CITY - A security guard assigned in a seaport here was gunned down by unidentified persons on board a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Barangay Taculing here on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

The victim was identified as Joserey Jaranilla, 51, of Barangay Taculing.

Capt. Dax Santillan, head of Police Station 6, said an SUV reportedly tailed the victim while he was walking on his way home.

Santillan said two persons from the vehicle then shot the victim several times, and fled.

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the body and head. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, according to Santillan.

Police recovered from the crime scene some fired bullets of a .9mm caliber firearm, and a .45 caliber pistol.

Police are looking into work-related possible motives in the incident, considering the threats he had received through calls and text messages last December, based on the statement of his wife.

Santillan said they already have persons of interest. Investigation is ongoing.
