LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Some 1,000 beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-TUPAD program in this city have received their compensation for 10 days of community work.
Quezon Rep. and House Majority Leader David C. Suarez, board member Ferdinand “Bong” Talabong, and Edwin Hernandez, DOLE provincial director, led the payout on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
The beneficiaries were residents of 11 barangays who passed the evaluation conducted by the local DOLE office and the office of Rep. Suarez.
Suarez announced that this year, the DOLE-TUPAD Plus will be implemented. This will enable beneficiaries to undertake training to be facilitated by DOLE that will enable them to land a job.
The Quezon solon and his wife Alona party-list Rep. Anna V. Suarez, vowed to make sure that the national DOLE has sufficient funds for the project.
TUPAD or the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed, and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
