Security guard stabs OFW wife to death in Pangasinan hotel


MANGALDAN, Pangasinan -- A 41-year-old security guard allegedly stabbed his 39-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) wife to death inside a hotel in Barangay Bantayan here on Sunday, Jan. 8.

Police identified the victim as Marilyn Acosta, a resident of Sual, Pangasinan.

The victim and the suspect, Richard Acosta, a security guard at the Sual Power Plant, checked in at the Golden Success Hotel at around 7:45 a.m.

A roomboy named ''Richmond'' saw the suspect coming out of the couple's room with blood on his body three hours later.

Responding policemen found the victim under the bed with blood on the floor and stab wounds in the body.

Police said the victim was killed using a small tool with a knife.

"Maliit na tools, na may kutsilyo ang ginamit ng suspek (The suspect used a small tool with a knife)," police said.

Marilyn was taken to the Mangaldan Rural Health Unit where she was declared dead.

The victim had just arrived from abroad and police said the motive of the crime could be jealousy.

Police said Richard suspected that his wife has an affair.

"Pinagsuspetsahan ng suspek na ang kaniyang misis ay may ibang lover (Richard suspected that his wife has a lover)," police said.

Suspect was arrested after incident and under the custody of the police here.
