K-pop idol group BTS member Jin, who is currently serving in the Army, greeted fans in a YouTube video.

Titled “Message from Jin: Jan. 2023,” the video, released on Jan. 9, showed Jin greeting fans before he enlisted in the military on Dec. 13.

“I won't be a civilian anymore by the time this is out but I'm here in front of the camera because I wanted to leave you something even if it's just leaving a message,” he said.

He said he was filming the Korean variety show “Running Man” at the time. He appeared in the Nov. 6, 2022 episode of the show.

“So I am here with the camera on today. Currently I'm shooting for 'Running Man' and whenever I'm available I wish to leave these videos and records once every few months to share with you as much as possible, even if it's just checking in briefly,” said Jin

According to him, “I may not be by your side at this very moment but I'll go looking for you soon so if you just wait a little bit. I'll be back soon.”

“That's all for today. Next time, when I have the chance I'll be back with another video. See you then!” he said.

Jin enlisted on Dec. 13 with the 5th Infantry Division recruit training center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province in South Korea.

He previously revealed that he would be deployed to the frontline when he was asked by a fan.

"It's your birthday next month! Are you excited?" a fan asked him and he replied, “Not really... I'm appointed to the front-line," SBS News reported, referring to the border near South and North Korea.

The Army recently uploaded photos of Jin undergoing tear gas and grenade throwing training in the camp.

He will be discharged from the military on June 12, 2024.
