Pangasinan marks 78th anniversary of Lingayen Gulf landings on Jan. 9

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The provincial government of Pangasinan has lined up activities in commemoration of the 78th anniversary of the Lingayen Gulf landings and 16th Pangasinan Veteran’s Day on Monday, Jan. 9.

Activities include a thanksgiving Mass, wreath-laying ceremony, and a commemorative program at the Veteran’s Memorial Park here.

The province will stage the “War of our Fathers” photo and artifact exhibit, a film showing, medical mission, and distribution of financial assistance.

GUICO

Gov. Ramon Guico III said in Executive Order No. 0252-2022 that the commemoration of the Lingayen Gulf landings is in remembrance of the historic arrival of Allied Forces led by Gen. Douglas MacArthur that led to the liberation of Luzon and eventually of the Philippines and the Pacific from Japanese Imperial Forces in World War II.

Guico said these historical events honor the bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism of Filipinos, particularly Pangasinan guerillas, soldiers, other freedom fighters and present-day heroes.

Pangasinan Veteran’s Day is institutionalized by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan through Provincial Ordinance No. 331-2007.
