PANGASINAN -- Six individuals were injured due to firecrackers explosions in different towns here, a police report said.
One of the victims, Anthony Mamaradlo, 24, a cook, and a resident of Brgy. Magtaking, San Carlos was driving his motorcycle when he saw a firecracker (whistle bomb) on his way.
He alighted from his motorcycle and kicked the firecracker which suddenly exploded in his right foot.
In Brgy. Capataan, San Carlos City, victim Charles Navarro, 21, of Brgy. Capataan, was lighting a firecracker (whistle bomb) when it suddenly exploded in his right hand.
Another victim identified as Mike Jonas Tirao, 10 years old, Grade 2 pupil and a resident of Malued Dagupan City was lighting a whistle bomb which accidentally exploded into his right eye.
Two residents of Brgy. Paitan East, Sual, including Teresita Patacsil, 58, and a three-year old, also suffered injuries due to firecrackers during New Year’s Day celebration.
The victims were watching a fireworks display in front of their house when suddenly the fireworks fell and accidentally hit them.
The first victim sustained first-degree burns on her right chest and left chin and the other victim sustained first degree burns on her abdomen.
Also Dominador Fernandez Santos Jr, 43, suffered injuries in his left and right palm while lighting a firecracker.
