16-year old boy ganged up to death by five assailants

CEBU CITY -- A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death after he was robbed by five assailants in Barangay Bulacao here on Saturday night, August 6.

Three individuals have been taken into police custody for the death of Jerome Rivera Estan, a Grade 10 student.

Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, deputy city director for administration of the Cebu City Police Office, said two of the alleged perpetrators are aged 16.

The other suspected assailant is 22 years old, said Parilla.

Two suspected perpetrators are still being pursued by the police, Parilla said.

Police said the incident happened past 11 p.m. while the victim was heading to a disco.

While walking along a road, the victim was met by a group of teenage boys.

The perpetrators took the victim’s cell phone. The victim fought back that prompted one of the perpetrators to stab him, police said.

"According to them (the arrested persons), they did not plan to rob the victim. Their intention was just to trip,” said Parilla.

The perpetrators were drunk during the incident, police said.

Parilla said robbery with homicide will be filed against the 22-year-old man and the two minors.
