CIDG, police operatives collar gun running syndicate in Calabarzon


CAMP GEN. VICENTE LIM, Calamba City -- Three gang members involved in gun-for-hire and gun running activities were arrested by the joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Calabarzon and local police unit in Barangay Anastacia in Tiaong, Quezon, a police report on Thursday said.

Armed with a search warrant for violation of R.A. 10591 issued by Judge Dennis Galahad C. Orendain, executive Judge of Regional Trial Court, Fourth Judicial Region, Lucena City, Quezon, the operatives arrested the suspects identified as Ritzelda Herrera, 50; John Gilbert Herrera, 30; and Von Vincent Herrera, 22.

However, the subject of the warrant Vicente Allermo Herrera, 52, was not around during the raid.

The search resulted in the discovery of three hand grenades, three 12-gauge shotguns, a US carbine, caliber .9mm pistol, three cal .45 pistols, a cal .22 Magnum revolver, five cal .38 revolvers, a cal .45 caliber Thompson sub-machine gun and various ammunition.

Report said the suspects were members of Manalo-Briones Group involved in gun-for-hire and gunrunning activities in the region.

Criminal complaints for violations of R.A. 10591 and R.A. 9516 are being prepared against the arrested, including Herrera.
