In a Facebook post, the Vice President said Monday, June 6, marked the “first day” of the relief operations in Sorsogon.

“Our team arrived Sorsogon this morning and started relief operations in Juban,” she wrote.

“Thank you to Mayor Tony Alindogan and Bgy Capt Elizabeth Balaguer for the assistance. Thank you also to Gov Chiz Escudero for welcoming our team,” Robredo added.

She accompanied the post with photos showing the distribution of bottled water, face masks, and dust masks.

Earlier, she already said that Sorsogon needs water and masks the most.

In an Instagram story, she also shared a photo of the relief assistance team loading boxes marked with Angat Buhay labels to a truck.

“This was last night, loading our first batch of relief goods for Sorsogon. So proud of our team for responding very quickly, all the time,” Robredo captioned the photo.

The Vice President, who had been busy with clearing out her office and ensuring a smooth transition of power to end her term at noon on June 30, sent the relief goods the night after the Sunday morning eruption of the volcano.

The phreatic eruption of the Bulusan Volcano spewed ash in Sorsogon province.

Reports said there is minimal to zero visibility caused by the thick ash.

Schools in the towns of Juban, Irosin, Casiguran, and Bulusan are possible evacuation centers.
