Lauren Young on the importance of self-love

Actress Lauren Young recently shared some reminders to people not confident with their physical appearance.

On Instagram, she uploaded then and now photos of herself.

Her caption read: "Here's a reminder to be kinder to yourself and to look in the mirror and see someone who is strong, powerful and beautiful."

According to her, nine years ago, she would look in the mirror and be so "unsatisfied" and "unkind" to her own self.

But today, all she sees is someone who "survived," someone who powered through bad eating habits, self-loathing, and beating up her body every day to fit into the standards that she thought she had to meet.

"We are all different — different faces and different bodies yet we come together with kindness and love," the younger sister of Miss World 2013 Megan Young related.

"So don’t forget to show yourself some love and kindness today and to those around you, because no matter how perfect someone's life seems, you don’t actually know who needs it."
