Local government officials and personnel of Angono, Rizal marked the 126th anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal’s martyrdom with offering of plants and flowers at the monument of the country’s national hero outside the municipal hall on Dec. 30.
Led by Angono Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon, the local government employees brought plants and flowers as offering during the ceremony at Plaza Rizal.
In her speech, Mayor Calderon encouraged the residents to always put in their heart the bravery of the country’s national heroes and the legacies that they brought to the country.
A “higante” version of Dr. Rizal was also placed beside the monument as part of the local observance of the martyrdom of Rizal.
The flower and plants offering in Angono was held while the wreath-laying event was being held at Luneta in Manila.
Vice Mayor Gerardo “Gerry” Calderon, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Order of the Knights of Rizal International, joined the Luneta ceremony which was led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
Several chapters of the Knights of Rizal also attended the Rizal Day ceremony in Angono and Manila.
