Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva on Thursday, December 29, congratulated Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto and the Pasig City Council for signing an ordinance ordering existing online gambling establishments to wind up operations.
"We pray that through this move, other local officials will follow their example," Villanueva said.
Villanueva emphasized that this development gives senators more confidence to push for the passage of Senate Bill 1281 "to eliminate and prohibit all forms of online gambling in the country."
"Magandang simula po sa pagbubukas ng bagong taon ang pagpapatupad ng mga tamang polisiya patungo sa masayang pagbabago ng ating bansa (This is s good start for the New Year in ushering correct policies towards a new beginning in our country)," he added.
