The Caritas Manila is appealing for donations to help those affected by the recent flooding in Misamis Occidental.

“Caritas Manila calls for donations to provide relief and rehabilitation assistance to our brothers and sisters in Misamis Occidental who were affected by the flooding,” posted the social service arm of the Archdiocese of Manila on its official Facebook page.

“Your voluntary support for this fundraising campaign will go a long way in helping communities and families recover from the devastation caused by the flooding,” it added.

Among the immediate needs of the affected individuals include ready to eat food, clean water, hygiene kits, and medicine kits.

Caritas Manila said that donations may be sent through its donation portals posted on its Facebook page.

Several parts of Visayas and Mindanao were flooded last Christmas day due to rains triggered by the shear line. The shear line is a weather system that is formed when the cold and warm air meets.

As of Dec. 28, a total of 25 people were confirmed to have died due to the flooding, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported.
