Woman shot during robbery at warehouse in Malabon

A woman was shot and wounded by one of the eight unidentified armed men who robbed the warehouse of an express delivery service company in Barangay Potrero, Malabon City on Monday evening, Dec. 26.

Col. Eros Miranda, Northern Police District (NPD) deputy district director for operations, told Manila Bulletin that the robbery hold-up incident happened at around 8:10 p.m. in the warehouse, where items for delivery to customers were stored, on Industry Road in Barangay Potrero.

He said that the victim, identified as “Jen,” an employee of the courier service company, sustained gunshot wounds in the left arm and thigh. She was rushed to the Manila Central University Hospital in Caloocan City for treatment.

The police official said they are still investigating the reason why the victim was shot by the suspects.

Miranda said that based on the closed circuit television camera footage and reports they gathered, the eight suspects wearing facemasks and bull caps, suddenly entered the building and took the personal belongings of 15 employees of the courier company, including two security guards. They fled on board a sports utility vehicle.

Some of the suspects were armed with high-caliber firearms while the others carry pistols, he said.

Among the stolen items were the victims’ 10 cellphones, bags, ATM cards, undetermined amount of cash, and one of the security guards’ service firearm. No products of customers were taken by the suspects.

The wounded victim is now in good condition, Miranda said.

He added that the incident is still under investigation.
