Big Bang’s Taeyang, Daesung leave YG Entertainment

K-pop boy band Big Bang members Taeyang and Daesung have left YG Entertainment, which has been their agency for 16 years since debuting in 2006.

YG Entertainment announced on Dec. 26 that Taeyang has left the agency and transferred to The Black Label, an associate company where YG holds a 30 percent stake.

"Big Bang’s Taeyang will be active as an artist under The Black Label, a company affiliated with YG. There is no change in the fact that he is a family member of YG and a member of Big Bang," YG Entertainment said.

On Dec. 27, YG Entertainment said Daesung decided to leave the agency.

"Daesung has decided to terminate his contract and is currently seeking a fresh start. The fact that Daesung is a member of Big Bang remains unchanged, and we will continue to support Daesung’s new start and choice; and are open to collaborate any time," the agency said, according to SBS News.

Big Bang debuted with five members. In 2019, Seungri left the group and announced his retirement from the entertainment industry after being embroiled in the Burning Sun club controversy.

He was convicted for different crimes and was sentenced to one year and six months in prison. Seungri will be released from the Yeoju Prison, located in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, in February after completing his prison sentence.

T.O.P left YG Entertainment in February.

Meanwhile, G-Dragon is discussing with YG Entertainment about contract renewal.
