13 passengers injured as truck rams concrete barrier in Quezon accident


CATANAUAN, Quezon -- Twelve persons were hurt when the truck they were riding on rammed into a concrete barrier on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Barangay San Roque in this town.

Catanauan police identified the victims as Jose Mena Bisco, 67, driver and a resident of Barangay San Vicente in Gumaca town; Rommer Ubana and Julius Maisay, Marvin Fortuna, Dennis Macalalad, Rudy Ubana, Jessie de Luna, John Clarence Duabe, isidro de Luna, John Loyd Laguador, Arfil watiwat, Daniel Francisco and Mark Ican Dortora.

They were all brought to Catanauan District Hospital.

The report said that around 12 noon Bisco lost control of an Isuzu elf at the Catanauan-Buenavista road due to engine brake trouble.

The truck rammed the concrete barrier at the road shoulder which resulted in the vehicle falling into an open line canal.

Two motorcycles parked at the roadside incurred damages after the truck hit them.
