CEBU CITY – Regular employees of the Cebu provincial government will have an extra cash to shell out for the holidays.
The Provincial Board (PB) on Thursday, Dec. 22, approved the P13.8-million supplementary budget for the Special Recognition Incentives (SRI) for Capitol workers qualified to receive the cash grant.
With the approval of the supplementary budget, each of the Capitol's over 1,300 regular employees will get up to P10,000 in cash incentives.
Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said the SRI's ceiling is P20,000 but it was decided that regular employees would only be given P10,000 each.
“If it is not to exceed, it does not necessarily mean it should be P20,000 so what was passed was P10,000. That's enough, that's already a big amount," Garcia said.
Garcia added that regular Capitol employees should already be thankful even if the maximum P20,000 was not given as they have just received P25,000 as part of the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA).
She said these financial incentives came from taxpayers’ money that should make the employees more thankful.
‘’Some didn't even have bonuses. Let us be sensitive. We are working in the government with big salaries and then it will come out that we are receiving big bonuses. Excuse me, some are not even doing their job well. They should feel guilty," said Garcia.
