Belmonte is top performing NCR mayor for 2022 - survey


Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte took the number one spot in the “Top NCR (National Capital Region) Mayors for the Year 2002 ” survey of the RP- Mission and Development Foundation Incorporated (RPMD) conducted from Nov. 27 to Dec. 2.

The RPMD announced on Tuesday, Dec. 20, that Belmonte got the highest job approval rating (95 percent) in terms of overall performance based on its independent and non-commissioned survey.

Survey respondents involved 10,000 registered voters and residents, aged 18-70, of the cities in Metro Manila.

The participants were asked with the question: “Do you approve or disapprove of how his/her job as Mayor is being performed?”

RPMD Executive Director Paul Martinez said that each city mayor was assessed by their constituents and ranked based on the ratings they received.

He added that the mayors have extensive responsibilities that encompass a variety of roles including being the city’s local chief executive, supervising and implementing the local government unit’s policies, programs and projects; serving as the city council’s head, and enforcing of laws and ordinances in the city.

Belmonte was followed by Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan, Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, and Navotas City Mayor John Reynald “John Rey” Tiangco, who were tied for the second spot with 90 percent job performance rating.

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano and Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin Abalos Sr. were also tied for the third place with 89 percent.

Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto (Both 85 percent performance rating) were at fourth place, while Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon got the fifth spot with 84 percent.

The RPMD said that the number of the respondents per city was distributed proportionally based on their official voting population data.

We assure you of our mayor’s continuous service for a more progressive city,” the Quezon City government said.

Meanwhile, Malabon City Mayor Sandoval and Navotas City Mayor Tiangco also thanked their constituents for the support and assured them of continuous delivery of service.
