46% of adult Filipinos ‘optimistic’ about PH economy’s improvement 


About 46 percent of adult Filipinos think the Philippine economy will improve over the next six months based on the survey released by OCTA Research on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

The “Tugon ng Masa” (TNM) National Survey, an independent and non-commissioned poll conducted regularly by OCTA Research, conducted from Oct. 23 to 27 showed that most adult Filipinos remain optimistic about the future --- particularly in the next six months.

While about 46 percent of adult Filipinos think the Philippine economy will “improve” over the next six months, the poll also showed that 38 percent think the economy will “stay the same,” and 10 percent think it will “worsen.”

OCTA’s latest survey also showed that the percentage of adult Filipinos who think the Philippine economy will improve over the next six months ranges from 43 percent to 60 percent across major areas.

Based on the results of the poll, it was noted that the “highest percentage of adult Filipinos who think the Philippine economy will improve over the next six (6) months is in Visayas (60%), and the lowest are in Balance Luzon and Mindanao (43%).”

Meanwhile, the percentage of adult Filipinos who think the Philippine economy will “worsen” over the next six months ranges from seven percent to 18 percent across major areas.

“The highest percentage of adult Filipinos who feel the Philippine economy will worsen over the next six (6) months is in Mindanao (18%), and the lowest is Balance Luzon (7%),” the survey said.

In terms of socioeconomic classes, the poll showed that the highest percentage of adult Filipinos who think the Philippine economy will improve over the next six months is in Class D with 48 percent.

Meanwhile, the highest percentage of adult Filipinos who think that the country’s economy will “worsen” over the next six months comes from Class A with 15 percent.

For this study, 1,200 male and female probability respondents aged 18 years and above from Class AB, C, D, or E homes were interviewed.

The respondents were from Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
