P136,000 worth of shabu seized from two former PDLs in Bacolod buy-bust


BACOLOD CITY -- About 20 grams of suspected shabu valued at P136,000 were seized from two former persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in a buy-bust operation at Purok Hollow Blocks, Barangay Singcang-Airport here on Sunday, Dec. 18.

Police identified the subject as Carlan John Mendoza, 40, of Barangay Vista Alegre here, while his companion was Arjie Tornilla, 27, of Barangay 16 here.

Mendoza is a high value individual, while Tornilla is a street level individual, according to the police.

Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, said that Tornilla, who allegedly bought illegal drugs from Mendoza, reportedly just accompanied the latter to meet up with a police agent during the drug bust.

Puerto said that Mendoza was arrested for a drug offense in 2018 and was released in October this year, after serving his sentence.

Tornilla was also previously arrested for robbery and was later released after serving his sentence, he added.

Puerto said that Mendoza will be charged for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs, while Tornilla will be facing charges for illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
