Man killed by bus, car in Negros town accident

BACOLOD CITY - A man died after he was hit by a bus liner and a sports utility vehicle as he tried to cross the street at Purok 3, Barangay Palaka, Valladolid, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Dec. 17.

The victim was identified as Andres Jordas, 34, of Barangay Poblacion.

According to the police, Jordas was hit first by the bus. Then an SUV that was tailing the bus, overtook the latter and hit the victim again.

The victim was taken to a hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

Jordas was usually allegedly loitering in the area, according to the police.

Valladolid police chief Major Wilfredo Benoman Jr. said that both parties are scheduled to meet on Monday, Dec. 19 to discuss a possible settlement, or the filing of cases.
