Gallup Korea poll shows BTS voted singer of the year for 5th consecutive time 


BTS did it again!

Gallup Korea has released the results of its Person of the Year year-end survey for 2022 to pick the Korean singers and songs that shone brightly.

The survey was conducted among 5,302 respondents in Korea composed of 2,511 people aged 13 to 39 and 2,791 people aged at least 40 years old. It was done in three periods this year: July 22 to Aug. 9, Sept. 23 to Oct. 19, and Nov. 7 to 24.

In the survey, respondents were asked to name the singers in Korea who shone brightly in 2022. The results were divided into two categories: the 13 to 39, and at least 40 years old.

In the 2022 survey, respondents in the 13 to 39 years old category voted BTS as the No. 1 singer who shone in 2022 with 29.4 percent.

This is the fifth consecutive year since 2018 that BTS topped the year-end poll of Gallup Korea. Last year, they got 45.6 percent, 39.2 percent in 2020, 26.3 percent in 2019 and 24.4 percent in 2018.

Here are the results of Gallup Korea’s year-end survey on singers in Korea who shone brightly in 2022:

Category: 13 to 39 years old

1. BTS - 29.4%

2. IU - 26.6%

3. BLACKPINK - 16.6%

4. IVE - 13%

5. Lim Young-woong - 6.5%

5. NewJeans - 6.5%

7. Zico - 6.1%

8. Aespa - 5.7%

9. (G)I-DLE - 4.7%

10. Lee Mujin - 4.4%

On the other hand, trot singers dominated the survey among respondents aged 40 years old and above. Here are the results:

1. Lim Young-woong - 33%

2. Jang Yoonjeong - 17.2%

3. Youngtak - 12.4%

4. Song Ga-in - 10.4%

4. Lee Chan-won - 10.4%

6. Na Huna - 9.9%

7. Jin Sung - 8.7%
