CATANAUAN, Quezon – Four tricycle passengers were injured when a cow jumped off a moving truck and fell on them on the national highway in Barangay Madulao here on Sunday, Dec. 18.
Police identified the victims as Michael Batario, 41, of Catanauan; Sheryl Rico, 41, of Mulanay, Quezon; Sheila Mae Tesalona, 23, of Mulanay; and Teresita Tesalona, 65, of Mulanay.
Investigation said the tricycle driven by Batario with eight passengers was on its way to Mulanay at 8:20 p.m. when a cow on an Isuzu Forward truck with license plates XKZ-275 driven by Kier Bobis, 20, a resident of San Francisco, Quezon, jumped off and fell on the tricycle.
Four passengers sustained multiple physical injuries while the others – Richelle Tesalona, 33; Noelyn Rico, 17; Nowela Rico, 12, and Maquele Rico, 11 – were unharmed.
The injured was taken to the Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital for treatment.
Bobis fled and is now the subject of a Mulanay police manhunt.
He faces a case of negligence resulting in multiple physical injury and damage to property.
