Man gunned down in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – A 40-year-old man was killed while his friend was wounded in a shooting incident in Sitio Camp Valdez, Barangay Mambaroto, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

The fatality was identified as Jomel Espora of Barangay 5, Sipalay City.

Master Sgt. Robert Castro, Sipalay City police investigator, said two men on a motorcycle tailed Espora, who was driving a motorcycle, with Rogie Fajardo, 23, also of Barangay 5, as back rider.

The gunmen fired at the victims when they reached the area and fled. Police recovered from the crime scene four fired bullets of a 9mm caliber firearm.

Espora sustained multiple bullet wounds and was declared dead on arrival in a hospital. Fajardo had a bullet wound in the head and was referred to a hospital here.

Castro said the victims have no criminal records with the police and barangay.
