"The annual passage of the is the single most important task of Congress," Co said in a statement Friday, Dec. 16.

Co chairs the House Committee on Appropriations, the panel that arguably poured the most hours in this year's budget process.

"This GAA for 2023 will help the Philippines recover from the continuing effects of the pandemic and move forward to prosperity," he reckoned.

Just hours earlier, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos signed the P5.268-trillion national budget for 2023 during a simple ceremony in Malacañang.

"I thank my colleagues in the House and the Senate, and our officials from the executive department for the diligence, hard work, and long hours that they put in into the drafting, deliberations, and consequent swift passage of the law," said the Bicol congressman.

"The Filipino people should always benefit from the laws we pass. This GAA provides for items that would sustain the growth we are enjoying, continue generating investments and jobs for our constituents, and increase incomes of Filipino families," he added.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez, who attended the signing ceremony, has promised the "immediate deployment" of the budget for the benefit of Filipinos.
