Bulacan cited for exemplary health programs

The exemplary implementation of health programs of the provincial government of Bulacan was recognized with five awards during the 8th Central Luzon Excellence Awards for Health (CLExAH) held at the Kingsborough International Convention Center, City of San Fernando, Pampanga on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Hjordis Marushka Celis, Provincial Health Officer I Dr. Edwin Tecson, and Nurse Brian Alfonso received the “Outstanding Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit,” “Best in Multi-sectoral Collaboration on COVID-19 Vaccination,” “Pulang Laso Excellence Awards for Health awarded to Bulacan Medical Center (Hospital Category),” “ Excellence Award for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H) Institutionalization,” and “Excellence Award in Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Implementation” on behalf of Governor Daniel R. Fernando.

The Department of Health’s (DOH) CLExAH aims to recognize its partners for their outstanding performances and contributions to maintaining a healthy community.

Department of Health Undersecretary Enrique Tayag thanked the awardees for their support to the DOH’s Covid-19 vaccination and other programs in Central Luzon.

“This year, we not only focused on excellence but also in bouncing higher, doing better, and serving more. That is the true essence of excellence. Your passion brought you here and we know it will bring you more success and blessing in many years to come,” he said.

Dr. Corazon Flores, Central Luzon Center for Health Development Director IV, congratulated the awardees for overcoming the challenges of the past two years.

“This is a day to celebrate. It’s a day to be happy, to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Lahat po tayo ay nagtulungan (We helped each other). For every person you served and every life saved, maraming, maraming salamat po (thank you very much),” Flores said.

Fernando recognized the people behind the success of the health programs -- the Bulakenyo health workers who tirelessly worked to serve their constituents.
