The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the driver's license of a motorist who was tagged in the viral hit-and-run incident in Manila involving a senior citizen.
Renante Melitante, officer-in-charge of the LTO's Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID), said the driver is also the registered owner of the vehicle that hit a female senior citizen in Dapitan, Manila early this month.
"The driver’s license of the suspect driver is suspended for a total of 90 days pending resolution of the case. The driver’s license of the driver has since been confiscated by the IID," said Melitante.
"The vehicle involved in the incident already underwent inspection and was already placed under alarm to prevent its owner from entering any transaction while the case is under investigation," he added.
In the video that went viral in connection with the incident, the vehicle was seen fleeing the area after hitting a senior citizen who suffered serious injuries.
The CCTV footage was among used in the identification of the driver.
The driver was earlier summoned to appear before the LTO to explain his side.
